Mine’s Parts Range Grows: Rear Underspoiler and Intercooler Piping Kit

2009年8月08日

mines-underspoiler-002

Three new parts from Mine’s hit my news feed today. First up is their intercooler piping kit. Built by hand in titanium and finished with typical Mine’s attention to detail. This kit replaces your OEM piping kit and ships with all the required hose joiners (in silicon) and fresh clamps.

The second and third parts really go together. The Mine’s Rear Underspoiler with Carbon Diffuser Fins. The rear underspoiler is a subtle dry carbon upgrade but integrates well with their diffuser fins.

No doubt these parts will not come cheap but Mine’s customers will not be shocked to learn that.

HKS Release More Intake and Exhaust Goodness

2009年6月15日

hks-spec-r-100

June is GT-R month for HKS as they chose to announce a few more additions to their lineup of GT-R tuning products. We saw the famous HKS “pretzel” LEGAMAX Premium exhaust almost 12 months ago now so it’s about time to see the next logical step in the HKS exhaust evolution. Naturally the full titanium version.

The HKS Superior Spec-R Exhaust is the top of the range exhaust for the Nissan GT-R. It’s titanium construction results in a 10kg weight reduction over the stock setup. It comes with a few cool features like slitted tips to lower noise output and larger diameter piping. No exact pricing or availability dates yet.

Next up is the HKS Racing Suction Reloaded air filter / intake piping kit. This twin filter kit replaces the GT-R airboxes and mounts foam type filters up front to get access to the cool outside air. It’s said to improve performance in the mid range and enhance the sound of your GT-R. These ones are already available in stock at MVPGTR.com.

GReddy Titanium Racing Exhaust Now Stateside

2009年6月10日

trust-exhaust-mvp-001

It’s taken it’s time but it’s now available in stock in the US. The GReddy (Trust) cat back exhaust is a fully titanium unit for ultimate weight savings. One pleasant side effect of using titanium is that proper exhaust note you’ve been hearing on many of the videos doing the rounds of the more tuned GT-Rs getting about. It’s not overly loud though, thanks to the large rear mufflers which also keep drone in check. You can hear what it sounds like on the MVP GT-R video below.

The exact weight savings total about 16 lbs over the stock exhaust system, a nice saving but couple that with the extra flow from the 80mm diameter piping and it’s a decent 20+hp power jump.

Nissan Japan to Offer Upgrades for Early Model GT-Rs and SpecV Parts

2009年5月14日

specv-parts-101

As we know Nissan began deliveries of the GT-R in December 2007 in Japan and since that time has made revisions and enhancements to the production car to continually improve on it’s performance. As the pinnacle of the Nissan brand and it’s technological capabilities, new tweaks are being rolled out with each successive model year.

The most recent set of changes has seen significant performance improvements for the latest model production GT-R. These include suspension improvements that improve the road handling and driving feedback, increases in power and improvements in the VDC software to enhance the GT-Rs acceleration. We call these cars Series II GT-Rs for simplicity.

While Nissan has been pro-active in offering the less tangible improvements to existing GT-R owners at no cost via the TCM software update available at dealerships, there is really not much that can be done about the hardware upgrades…

Well that’s no longer the case, for Japanese owners at least. For a special package price between 494,000 and 532,000 yen the suspension upgrade package is now available at Japanese NHPCs. The package includes the following parts:

  • Billstein Shock Absorbers (front and rear)
  • Springs (front and rear)
  • Transverse link bush
  • Engine Mount (rear)
  • Engine Mount (front) – 2007 models only
  • Transmission mount – 2007 models only

Nissan also makes note that certain SpecV parts will be available to purchase through NHPCs and dedicated service centers nationwide. The following parts previously only available on the SpecV will now be made available for other GT-R owners in Japan.

  • SpecV Rays 20″ Forged Aluminium Wheels
  • SpecV Recaro Carbon Bucket Seats
  • SpecV Titanium Muffler / Exhaust
  • SpecV Resevoir Tank

I dare say you’d now be able to have your dealer install any number of these upgrades prior to delivery if you were that way inclined. This announcement was quite expected after the GT-R recently made a 7:27.56 lap time at the Nurburgring on SpecV wheels.

Whether other regions such as the US will follow suit in offering either of these options from Nissan is unknown at this time.

Update: Ben from GT-RR.com has let us know that they’re able to offer all of the Nissan OEM parts listed above including the SpecV parts to global GT-R owners. If there’s anything of interest to you, check them out at their website GT-RR.com.

GTC-R Launch GTC Titan Full Titanium Exhaust

2009年5月12日

gtc-titan-101

GTC-R has been working on a new range of parts for the Nissan supercar R35 GT-R for a while now and today we can announce the first in the lineup in the form of this full titanium exhaust. The exhaust features three replacement sections, a titanium Y-pipe, titanium center and full titanium rear muffler setup.

The lightweight, resonated Y-pipe weighs just 4 kg, a significant saving over the OE item. It also provides a huge increase in exhaust flow by utilizing larger diameter piping (76mm x 2 into 89mm x1) and deleting the two secondary catalytic converters. Exhaust flow and performance aren’t the only benefits here, the GT-R’s exhaust note gets that well deserved improvement that many GT-R owners are looking for.

The GTC Titan Y-pipe is available for £900 GBP (plus VAT).

The GTC Titan rear muffler section is fed by a straight through 90mm center pipe with no resonators. This simple look keeps weight down and adds bulk to the GT-R engine’s vocals. This is one exhaust that manages to keep the noise level acceptable around town but give you the supercar, F1 scream at WOT. Again, GTC-R have lightened these rear exhaust components. Saving 10kg over the OE items (6.6kg GTC Titan vs. 17.45kg OEM) fitting this exhaust provides performance improvements all round. The rear section splits the 90mm pipe into 2x 76mm pipes feeding a symmetric muffler design leading finally to four large circular tips with burnt titanium highlights.

The GTC Titan Exhaust sells for £2,200 GBP (plus VAT)

These exhaust components are custom, hand made to order and expect to spend about 6 – 8 weeks in anticipation once you’ve ordered. Hit up GTC-R for more information at the links below.
