<p>As <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/05/05/gt-channel-interview-mines-boss-niikura-specv/">seen recently in an interview with Mine&#8217;s president Niikura-san</a>, <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/minesnews/">Mine&#8217;s</a> has been developing engine parts for the Nissan GT-R and GT-R SpecV with a goal to improve the power and, more importantly, the response of the VR38 engine. <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/minesnews/">Mine&#8217;s tuning</a> philosophy has always been one of modest power goals with maximum response. </p>
<p>One of the differences noted by Mine&#8217;s when they got their hands on the new <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/vspec/">SpecV</a> was that Nissan had paid some attention to airflow through the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/vspec/">SpecV&#8217;s</a> standard throttle body. To smooth flow through the intake they have coated the rough cast inside of the throttle body. The result you can see below. In comparison with the standard item it&#8217;s an improvement but when you see it next to the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/minesnews/">Mine&#8217;s</a> item you can see how doing it properly would be preferable.</p>

<p>The Mine&#8217;s High Flow Throttle Body is available now through your local Mine&#8217;s distributors. For a pair of throttle bodies in exchange for your standard ones, the price is 132,000 yen. For a pair of throttle bodies without exchanging your own the price is 258,000 yen.</p>

<p>When Nissan launched the GT-R at the Tokyo MotorShow in 2007 the deal was that each year we&#8217;d seen an evolutionary step taken and a new model released. Exactly what this meant we didn&#8217;t know at the time but so far Mizuno-san has kept his promise by <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/01/08/spec-v-it-s-finally-here-official-launch/">launching the GT-R SpecV in January 2009</a>. What&#8217;s next though?</p>
<p>Well even before the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/vspec/">SpecV</a> had been <a href="ttp://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/01/08/spec-v-it-s-finally-here-official-launch/">officially launched</a> the rumours of the next evolutionary step were being spun by the Japanese print media. We&#8217;ve now heard that Mizuno-san&#8217;s plan is to have <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/specm-gtrnews/">the Nissan GT-R SpecM</a> on sale in 2010.</p>
<p>An additional rumour is that Nissan plans to announce <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/specm-gtrnews/">the SpecM&#8217;s</a> official launch at the 41st Tokyo MotorShow 2009 in October 2009. The timing seems awfully convenient so I do not doubt the source here. Orders to be taken late 2009 and deliveries in early 2010 would seem to fit the mould nicely.</p>
<p>So what is a SpecM? As many would know the R34 GT-R was the first GT-R to come bearing the nameplate &#8220;M-Spec&#8221; in two guises, the &#8220;M-Spec&#8221; and &#8220;M-Spec Nur&#8221;. Each was an upmarket GT-R aimed at the well-to-do gentleman buyer who prefers a little more class in their top of the range Skyline.</p>
<p>The base M-Spec was equipped with the V-Spec II level of equipment minus the carbon hood which was standard on the V-Spec II. The M-Spec had the base model&#8217;s aluminium item but got the interior swathed in black leather. The M-Spec suspension was tuned with a different spring arrangement and tuned dampers providing a more supple ride.</p>
<p>How will <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/specm-gtrnews/">the R35 GT-R SpecM</a> improve over the base model? Best Car magazine recently published that <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/specm-gtrnews/">the GT-R SpecM</a> would be customisable from the paint colour down to a choice of interior materials.</p>
<p>While the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/specm-gtrnews/">R35 GT-R SpecM</a> base price is expected to start lower than the SpecV,  I&#8217;m sure you can customise it to be quite pricey. Just tick that carbon-ceramic brake package box and see how you go.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.7tune.com/">7Tune</a> wrote a little more on this a couple of weeks back, check their link for a bit more detail on the customization.</p>
