Flexible or rubber intercooler hoses tend to suffer with age and increases in boost pressure. It’s a safe bet that if it can expand then it will, especially when you’re running more boost than standard, and this can affect the driveability and response of the engine.

Type1 Racing are developing a neat polished aluminium hard-pipe kit to do away with these problems. This fully mandrel bent system also has an increased pipe diameter of between 63 and 70mm and comes complete with 4 layer silicon hose joiners and hardware.

All up the T1R hardpipe system beats the stock system in terms of weight also. It’s just 3.98kg total, about 2.5kg lighter than standard.

It’s due to be released in early 2010 so we’ll post back with pricing when it is.

Southside Performance has added to it’s lineup of parts today with the pre-launch preview of the SSP Front Mount Intercooler upgrades for the GT-R. These are designed to mount in the standard location and utilize all standard mounting hardware for easy instalation.

Tech specs like core dimensions, performance improvement over standard are still to come. What we can tell you is the price. SSP will sell these for $2399 MSRP.

Trust have extended their range of GT-R parts recently with the release of a variety of intake piping kits. First up and pictured above is the Trust Aluminium Intake Piping Kit. The kit is a direct replacement for the OE piping designed for bolting straight up with the factory air boxes installed. Six replacement 70mm aluminium pipes and silicon hose joiners with clamps ship with the kit. This kit is compatible with the GReddy Intercooler kit but not the GReddy TD06 turbine kit, GReddy will release a kit compatible with the TD06 kit soon.

This kit goes for around the 159,600 yen in Japan.

Next up is a pair of airbox replacement GReddy Suction Kits. There’s the Type-1 kit which includes two aluminium turbine compressor replacement pipes and a pair of foam mushroom filters. This kit includes silicon hose joiners also and sells for 100,800 yen in Japan.

Lastly is the GReddy Suction Kit Type-2, the unique thing in this kit is that the air boxes are replaced with a pair of mushroom filters that are positioned in front of the radiator support where they have more ready access to cold air. It includes polished aluminium compressor replacement piping, silicon hose joiners and airfilters and sells for 120,750 yen in Japan.

Just when you were beginning to think you’d upgraded all your intake piping, Mine’s have again shown us there’s more to it. The Mine’s Titanium Suction Pipe Kit features a pair of direct fit replacement compressor intake pipes that are as beautiful to look at as they are functional.

Line the Mine’s intake up next to the original Nissan part and you can quickly see the difference. The restrictive cast factory item is not as co-operative as it could be at high boost pressure – the result – sucky throttle response. The Mine’s items on the other hand are wide open (45mm vs. 60mm) reducing intake airflow resistance and thus increasing throttle response and horsepower. Performance gains of around 20 – 30hp are claimed.

Manufacturing quality is as per usual, top shelf. Mine’s round slice and weld each titanium section to ensure each pipe is perfectly circular right the way through. Each weld is then extensively cleaned to perfection.

The kit comes with all the hardware you need to fit including the Titanium Suction Pipes, SAMCO silicone hoses and hose clamps. The price is set at 128,000 yen, hit up your Mine’s distributor for more information and combine with Mine’s Intercooler Piping set for even better effect.

Harman Motive have just dropped their latest press release with their new parts lineup for the 2009 and later Nissan GT-R including full details, results and pricing. It’s refreshing to have all in one place so thanks to Harman Motive for the effort on their part.

First up, and picture above installed, is the Harman Motive Intercooler Piping Kit – aka the HM-GTR-ICPK – it’s a full kit of polished alloy piping to replace your standard garden variety, flexible rubber items. The piping increases pipe diameter by 3/4″ to 2 3/4″. The internal surface helps to smooth airflow and provide a more consistent high velocity air intake charge. They fit up to all the standard sensors and even your standard BOVs.

As you can see in the dyno chart above, the full intake system (HM-GTR-ICPK plus the HM-R35-CAI cold air intake) produced a decent gain in horsepower and torque from the mid range up. The Intercooler Piping Kit alone retails at the $1,395 mark but the kit together with the CAI in a package is $2044. All made in the USA.

Next up are the HM-GTR-DPK Catless Downpipes for Nissan GT-R. These lower exhaust restriction significantly by ditching the primary cats. Made from stainless steel they’re designed to be completely direct fit replacements. Also made in the USA they come in at $1,195 a set.
