Mine’s continue to expand their already impressive lineup of dry carbon products this week with the announcement of their anticipated full carbon door replacement for the GT-R.
Each door is specifically designed as a direct but lightweight replacement for the factory item and shaves off 6.4kg per side. This brings the weight of each door down to an amazing 3.2kg (7lbs). While the weight comes down the strength, fitment and quality does not as these are manufactured from a dry carbon honeycomb material for ultimate durability. The doors are available from Mine’s dealers now with a pricetag of 590,000 yen.

Also new from Mine’s is the Carbon Bonnet Type II for Nissan R35 GT-R. This original style hood replacement integrates a simple set of NACA ducts to funnel cool air to the tubochargers. Unique to the Mine’s Carbon Bonnet Type II, towards the rear corners of the hood, are air vents to allow hot engine bay air to circulate out keeping under hood air temps down. The hood is also fitted with a drainage point to allow rain water a way out.
The hood is not just extremely functional, it’s also lighter than the standard item as it weighs just 5.2kg (11.4 lbs). That represents a huge 6.9kg weight saving. While the hood is a perfect fit on any GT-R, Mine’s do recommend you use hood pins to prevent any issues at high speed.
It’s available with a Super Clear finish that will protect the hood for 640,000 yen. It’s also available without the clear coating if the customer intends to paint the hood themselves for a price of 570,000 yen.

Well enough sneak peeks and previews it’s time for the real deal. Password:JDM have spent an unprecidented amount of time developing the perfect widebody front fender out of 100% dry carbon fibre for your Nissan GT-R. These kevlar reinforced dry carbon fenders took 200+ days of development. From a spark of an idea, to painstaking clay modelling to final product.
The main goal was to assist in eliminating understeer in the powerful but heavy GT-R. To achieve that goal the guys at PWJDM wanted to fit a full 20×11 inch wheel fitted with a Toyo Proxes R888 315 wide tyre up front. The only way to do this was to go wider.
So that’s what they did, a full 38mm wider at the front without changing the lines of the car. Fender vents were also widened to help get air out of the wheel well area and the front side markers are replaced with carbon inserts. The whole fender is also signicantly lighter that stock. Overall I’d have to say this is one of the most highly successful aero / body projects for the Nissan GT-R to date.
Price is $3899.99 and as noted previously, the Password:JDM GT-R will be at SEMA in Las Vegas from 3rd – 6th November 2009 if you want to get up close with a truckload of carbon.

SEMA 2009 is almost upon us and it appears that a few Nissan GT-Rs are being prepared to be tricked out for the show. In about a month’s time we’ll be in Las Vegas for the annual event that runs from the 3rd to the 6th of November.
I will be there and so will the North American GTR Owner’s Club (NAGTROC) who will be hosting their own booth in the North Hall Lobby showing Nissan GT-Rs in varying states of tune from members and sponsors alike.
Speaking of NAGTROC, the guys have organized a special rate for suites at the super luxurious Palazzo Hotel at just $229/night. If you are attending SEMA or want to get in on this exclusive deal contact bookings at 866-263-3001 with group code VNAGT. You must book by MONDAY 5PM PDT 12th October. Then for your included SEMA pass contact me or Chuck @ NAGTROC.org via email.
NAGTROC and GTRBlog will be getting together for a meetup (or a few meetups actually!) to eat, drink and talk GT-Rs so feel free to get in on this as well by posting a comment below or just stay tuned for the details of the meet place and time.
It’s going to be a great SEMA this year with quite a few surprises in store so start planning your attendance now.
Password:JDM have started their plans. As you can see here their finished dry carbon wide front fenders are fitted and their demo GT-R is off to the paint shop for a respray. These front guards are easily wide enough to swallow 315 wide Toyo Proxes R888s at the front so you can kiss understeer goodbye.
Pricing and availability information to come as we hear it…

You may have seen Knight Racer products adorning Nissan GT-Rs worldwide already. The UK based manufacturer has been in the Skyline / GT-R world for a good number of years now sporting a solid reputation of producing some fine quality carbon parts, so it’s fairly natural to assume it would continue when the latest GT-R launched in Europe earlier in the year.
Their range of Hybrid Carbon parts for the R35 Nissan GT-R is already quite broad covering many of the usual suspects. In the lineup they have a carbon oem style hood, carbon trunk lid, carbon rear wing, carbon front grille, carbon front lip spoiler, carbon rear exhaust protector, and carbon hood ducts. The guys also have less conventional items such as carbon full replacement front guards.
Knight Racer intends to expand it’s GT-R product range and to target the international market so expect to hear more news shortly. For now, hit up the Knight Racer website for more pics and more details on how to get your hands on these and more.

Inspired by the 2010 FIA GT1 specification Nismo developed Nissan GT-R this full carbon fibre hood by GTC Racing is getting closer and closer to production.
The aggressive appearance of the hood is equaled by the quality of construction and attention to detail. For example, the factory hood intakes are remodeled in carbon fibre and retain their factory turbine cooling function. Even the underside of the hood is finished to the premium standard you’d expect for a part going on your GT-R.
Functionality is there too, the GTC GT1 Carbon Hood weighs in at just 4.8 kg – a 7.2 kg weight saving over the standard 12kg OE item. Not to mention the engine bay cooling benefits of the copious air vents.
As for the price, it’s not finalized exactly yet, but expect to pay around the £2,500 mark when ready.
Up next for GTC are other carbon parts you might be able to peep in the photo gallery below.
