Rumors and gossip about the AP Racing carbon ceramic brake rotor upgrades being developed for the Nissan GT-R have been fueled again today with confirmation that they’re almost here by way of a sneak peek on the STILLEN blog.
These babies will see action in Newfoundland on Steve Millens GT-R targa car. Should stop nicely!
Thanks for the link Josh!

Some of you who’ve spent some time getting to know the GT-R at your local race tracks may have noticed that the brakes tend to get hot. It’s not rocket science really, a big heavy car like the GT-R expects a lot from it’s brakes even if they are mammoth in size.
Nissan’s solution to brake heat issues was to throw a whole heap of money at carbon ceramic rotors and a pair of tiny air ducts in the front lip spoiler for the SpecV. HKS Kansai on the other hand have come up with a product a little more subtle and available. Simple air guides that bolt to your lower control arms and direct air towards the calipers.
Could it be this easy? Well real world results are not abundant at this stage so we’ll have to wait and see. These sell for about 39,900 yen in Japan.
Thanks to Mindlessoath for posting this over on NAGTROC.

Alcon’s big brake kit has been anticipated for a while now and finally the first production versions are shipping. This lucky GT-R from Singapore was fitted up with it’s new anchors just last week.
These UK developed brakes are a complete upgrade including some mammoth 6 piston Monobloc front calipers responsible for clamping the upgraded two piece 400x36mm floating rotor assemblies. The rear brakes are also not forgotten and come with 6 piston calipers with 385x33mm rotors with hats that support the GT-Rs handbrake.
As for performance, well, this very set will be tested at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia in the coming weeks so we’ll wait to hear how they went.
Thanks to Maximusracing, who are the Singapore and Malaysia Alcon distributors, for the info and photos. Photos are (C) Maximusracing and may only be used with their permission.

STILLEN launched thes stainless braided brake lines for the Nissan GT-R this week. The GT-R is well equipped in the brakes department from the factory using solid lines liberally. The STILLEN kit takes this into account and does not remove or replace any of that.
This kit replaces the OE rubber hoses with braided stainless items which offer a huge increase in stiffness. The result is a firmer, more responsive brake feel at high temperatures.
Quality fittings and Goodridge components throughout, these offer DOT-compliance and are TÜV certified.
Priced at $298 they’re available now.

Ever get that spongy brake pedal feeling when you’ve got some heat into your brakes after a bit of hard driving? One contributing factor is your factory brake lines expanding. Rubber gets hot and it gets flexible but these brake lines are teflon coated braided stainless and will not expand outwards at high temperatures.
Nissan had recognized this issue in the GT-R and increased brake line stiffness for the Series II GT-R but most current GT-R owners won’t get the benefits of that change unless they do something about it themselves.
These are a cost effective way to do that, for now, $149 gets you these brake lines including shipping to the lower 48 states from our partner SpeedForSale.com. Before you ask, yep they do meet DOT standards.
Our friend Darin from Budez.com will be fitting up a set to his GT-R soon so we can get an idea of how they improve his brake feeling on the track.
A few other parts from Type1Racing have been released lately, we won’t go into details here but check their website and the photo gallery below.
