2009年10月08日

passwordjdm-front-001

SEMA 2009 is almost upon us and it appears that a few Nissan GT-Rs are being prepared to be tricked out for the show. In about a month’s time we’ll be in Las Vegas for the annual event that runs from the 3rd to the 6th of November.

I will be there and so will the North American GTR Owner’s Club (NAGTROC) who will be hosting their own booth in the North Hall Lobby showing Nissan GT-Rs in varying states of tune from members and sponsors alike.

Speaking of NAGTROC, the guys have organized a special rate for suites at the super luxurious Palazzo Hotel at just $229/night. If you are attending SEMA or want to get in on this exclusive deal contact bookings at 866-263-3001 with group code VNAGT. You must book by MONDAY 5PM PDT 12th October. Then for your included SEMA pass contact me or Chuck @ NAGTROC.org via email.

NAGTROC and GTRBlog will be getting together for a meetup (or a few meetups actually!) to eat, drink and talk GT-Rs so feel free to get in on this as well by posting a comment below or just stay tuned for the details of the meet place and time.

It’s going to be a great SEMA this year with quite a few surprises in store so start planning your attendance now.

Password:JDM have started their plans. As you can see here their finished dry carbon wide front fenders are fitted and their demo GT-R is off to the paint shop for a respray. These front guards are easily wide enough to swallow 315 wide Toyo Proxes R888s at the front so you can kiss understeer goodbye.

Pricing and availability information to come as we hear it…

GTC Carbon Fibre GT1 Spec Hood for Your Street GT-R

2009年9月12日

gtc-gt1hood-003

Inspired by the 2010 FIA GT1 specification Nismo developed Nissan GT-R this full carbon fibre hood by GTC Racing is getting closer and closer to production.

The aggressive appearance of the hood is equaled by the quality of construction and attention to detail. For example, the factory hood intakes are remodeled in carbon fibre and retain their factory turbine cooling function. Even the underside of the hood is finished to the premium standard you’d expect for a part going on your GT-R.

Functionality is there too, the GTC GT1 Carbon Hood weighs in at just 4.8 kg – a 7.2 kg weight saving over the standard 12kg OE item. Not to mention the engine bay cooling benefits of the copious air vents.

As for the price, it’s not finalized exactly yet, but expect to pay around the £2,500 mark when ready.

Up next for GTC are other carbon parts you might be able to peep in the photo gallery below.

C-West Add Dry Carbon Trunk and Wing to their Aero Parts Catalogue

2009年9月11日

c-west-wing-002

Following on from their initial release of carbon fibre aero parts for the Nissan GT-R, C-West have added this sturdy looking rear wing and carbon fibre trunk hood to their range.

The trunk hood is made from dry carbon composite (DCC) which features an internal honeycomb construction for added strength. At the same time it’s extremely lightweight at just 2.9kgs. The trunk hood can be yours at around the 399,000 yen mark. Update: US Pricing is just in from GT-RR.com -US GT-R owners can expect to pay around the $3,800 mark for this one.

The rear wing is still classified as in development but we can tell you it also will be manufactured in dry carbon composite material for it’s low weight and high material strength. It may not look pretty but a strong rear wing in this design should be quite functional in terms of adding rear downforce.

Tommy Kaira GT-R Aero Development Update: Part Two

2009年9月08日

tommykaira-dev-105

The Tommy Kaira aero kit development is coming along and for this latest update quite a lot of tweaking has been done to reign in the look somewhat. The front air intakes are starting to open up which softens the sharp edges of the front end. At the rear, the wing is being fleshed out to give a better idea of the final version. The rear diffuser / underspoiler is also taking shape and improving.

While initially the Tommy Kaira aero kit looked too much like a leaf out of WALD’s recipe book, I think they’re slowly managing to make the kit unique and more importantly, more attractive.

We’ll keep following their progress and keep you posted…

Abflug Complete Controversial Front Bumper for Nissan GT-R

2009年9月05日

abflug-frontbumper-001

Since the concept debuted at Tokyo AutoSalon 2008 I’ve been up and down on Abflug’s aero parts for the Nissan GT-R. I should say down, then up really though because I hated them at first. You really need only take a look at our post from January to quickly see why.

I don’t hold grudges though and Abflug made a pretty huge 180 degree flip when they actually brought parts to market by June 2009. The parts were simple and clean with nothing too obnoxious about them. We ended that story with “A full front bumper is planned for early 2010.” and left it at that.

Well the front bumper was finished early so we can get our first look at it. To start with, it’s miles better than the concept from January. That’s great. Is it good though? Would you buy it? I guess that is a very personal decision for people but I don’t see a huge number of people falling in love with this design.

Opinions? Let us know in the comments…
