Varis Runduce Price Carbon Aero Parts for Nissan GT-R

2010年1月29日

It’s not their widebody masterpiece (yet) but it’s the first stage of carbon fibre upgrades for the Nissan GT-R to come out of Japanese legend Varis. Renowned for their amazing Evo and STi work in the past we’re hoping their final stage of GT-R modifications “fills the shoes” so to speak.

Anyways, pricing is now out for both Japan and US regions thanks to Varis and GT-RR as well as the official product shots. Their kit will be available in Varis Semi Dry Carbon (VSDC) versions as well as wet carbon with separate pricing for each.

The VSDC option allows Varis to produce some very lightweight rigid parts without the full extra cost of a traditional dry carbon production.

The Varis Front Diffuser for example weighs in at 4.5kg versus the 6.5kg standard OEM front underspoiler – more than 30% weight savings. It’s priced at about $2740 USD but probably a little less for the wet carbon version.

Next take a look at the Varis Aero Hood, featuring some unique venting it also looks to be well constructed from underneath. The VSDC version goes for around the $4620 mark but the wet carbon version is just $2845. There’s a weight reduction to just 8.5kg in the VSDC version of the hood.

The rear diffuser round back is again quite an original look, personally I think it needs time to grow on me but if its your cup of tea you can pick one up for $1250 in wet carbon. There is currently no VSDC version of this item.

The sideskirts were quite a hit for me, they really work well with the lines of the car but stand out at the same time. They’re also pretty cheap at just $1250 a set in Varis Semi Dry Carbon. Again you can knock off a bit of that price for the normal wet carbon version if you wanted.

Lastly we have the Varis Rear Wing and Trunk Spoiler available in full VSDC or in VSDC with a FRP trunk spoiler. It’s again an original looking wing that will certainly set your car apart from all the others. I’m not feeling the trunk spoiler but the wing itself looks great. The price is $3350 for the VSDC version or $2750 for the VSDC FRP combo.

Mine’s Meeting Event: Mine’s R35 GT-R Dry Carbon Front Bumper Scoop Photos

2010年1月17日

Tokyo AutoSalon
is not the only event in town this weekend and today was a perfect day for a visit to the Mine’s workshop for the Mine’s Meeting Event 2010. Just an hour on the Keikyu line out of Shinagawa, Tokyo, Yokosuka is situated at the opening of the Tokyo Bay on the Miura Penninsula. Coming direct from Tokyo you feel a slowdown in the pace of life but it doesn’t feel like the countryside yet. The kind of place you feel like you could strike a balance between work and life with a getaway to the seaside literally minutes away.

Personally I had not visited the Mine’s workshop until today but thanks to the help and hospitality of Sales and Marketing manager Noriaki Nagahama-san we arrived to find a buffet of legendary Mine’s GT-Rs at our fingertips in the front parking lot. There was the legendary BNR34 GT-R that has been lusted after by JDM car fans since 2002 and is still said to be very emodiment of speed, handling and response on the circuit. There was also, of course, the pair of Mine’s R35 GT-Rs, one for street and one all out dedicated circuit version.

This is where things got really interesting because that latter, circuit version GT-R, was known to be the first GT-R to feature the Mine’s Complete VR38DETT Engine built right on site in the Mine’s Engine Room by Technical Supervisor and head mechanic, Toshikazu Nakayama-san.

Something else was different though, it is subtle yes, but substantially different. The Mine’s Dry Carbon front bumper that we had been awaiting for some time was finally finished and installed!

The Mine’s Dry Carbon Front Bumper is a complete replacement front bumper featuring some significant upgrades over the standard item. First and foremost is the improved cooling design by way of more ducting and redesigned ducting. The basic lines of the GT-R’s front end remain but the cooling potential is increased firstly by opening the central horizontal section. This is quite similar to what Nismo has done when preparing the Nismo GT-R for the 2008 Tokachi 24hrs endurance race but in the case of Mine’s this section is not just cut out but also ducted to prevent air flow from being wasted. On the Mine’s version, once air enters the horizontal duct, it’s forced to move upward to the radiator.

Next improvement is a little easier to see and comes by way of pushing back the engine oil cooler ducting to begin just in front of the intercoolers. This has a twofold effect of removing the need for the factory intercooler ducting and increasing airflow to the intercoolers and engine oil coolers by having a more open inlet. The ducting to the intercooler is now handled by the same carbon panel which directs air to the radiators from horizontal opening. Quite ingenious in design really.

Cooling is not the only improvement made on the Mine’s Front Bumper, we also have an improvement to the aerodynamics of the car by both the larger size and improved integration of the Mine’s Carbon Canards. The shape of the GT-Rs OEM canard “lumps” has been redesigned to allow the larger bolt on canards to screw in from underneath. Low profile hex screws are used to then bolt the canards up. The result is an absolute seemless looking solution.

As the bumper is built to OEM size and specification, it will bolt up to the standard or aftermarket front underspoilers. Seen here it’s bolted up to the Mine’s Dry Carbon Front Lip Spoiler Type-II. Of course, as with all Mine’s gear, the quality of the bumper was also first rate.

Expect to see the availability announcement soon and with that will come pricing information. Right now neither the date or price is decided but we’ll let you know when it is.

The Mine’s Meeting Event is still on till the end of the day tomorrow, the 18th of January so if you’re in Tokyo feel free to get along to check out the cars in the flesh!

Oh and before you ask, yes we didn’t just LOOK at that new Mine’s Complete Engine! We’ve got more to come from today’s meeting in the upcoming days!

Tokyo AutoSalon 2010: TommyKaira GT-R Buildup Continues

2010年1月04日

The tension builds as we get nearer and nearer to Tokyo AutoSalon 2010. I leave for Tokyo this weekend so personally I’m pretty damn excited too. About the show, seeing old friends but also about checking out what TommyKaira have been up to with their GT-R.

On the news front, you can see a little more work has been done getting the parts on the car. A full custom TommyKaira brake kit has also been developed along with a suspension setup from Quantum.

We know that the guys at TommyKaira also plan to splash red leather liberally around the interior, including on the seats which will be replaced with some SpecV-esque Recaros.

Stay tuned for a full spread of photos from the mornings press preview at Tokyo AutoSalon on the 15th of January…

SEMA 2009: SEIBON GT-R Featuring SEIBON Carbon and APEXi Exhaust

2009年12月02日

sema-gtrblog-seibon-111

If you thought we were done with GT-Rs from SEMA you’re mistaken, there were quite a few stalking the giant halls, wading amongst the Camaro ocean. This SEIBON decked out GT-R, for example, was on display at the SEIBON booth and was suprisingly carbontastic.

Well in case you’ve been hiding under a rock, here’s some background, SEIBON have had a fairly comprehensive range of carbon fibre parts available for the GT-R for quite some time now. Some of the parts on offer include:

  • Carbon fibre hoods, both OE and aero style
  • Carbon fibre trunk lid
  • Carbon fibre rear spoiler
  • Carbon fibre rear underspoiler
  • Carbon fibre front lip spoiler
  • Carbon fibre doors
  • Carbon fibre front fenders
  • Carbon fibre rear seat delete sets
  • Carbon fibre rear center console
  • Carbon fibre engine cover
  • Carbon fibre radiator shroud

The SEIBON GT-R was also fitted with the exceptional new A’PEXi Racing Sports Evolution Extreme exhaust for Nissan GT-R, something we think is gonna sell like hotcakes as soon as A’PEXi can get them into the hands of dealers.

SEIBON parts are being increasingly adopted by tuners worldwide for their demo cars and have popped up on HKS Kansai’s R35 GT-R, AutoSelect’s R35 GT-R, Dynamic Autosports Drift R35 GT-R and more.

For a comprehensive list of parts and where to get them from, hit up the link below…

C-West Full Carbon GT-Wing for Nissan GT-R Released

2009年12月01日

20091201-CWEST-04

Previewed earlier in the year, C-West have now rolled out the new full dry carbon GT-Wing for the Nissan GT-R for sale. Designed for high speed circuit applications, the wing is extremely lightweight and strong owing to it’s carbon honeycomb construction. The wing is also easily adjusted by way of the set pins on each end cap.

While this wing design is their high-speed downforce model, a second model offering more downforce, albeit with more drag, is planned for early next year.

High end wings like this don’t come cheap and price of admission is 682,500 yen in Japan. Expect a delivery 30 – 40 days after ordering as they’re made to order.
