9月19日に富士スピードウェイで開催されたR’s Meeting。
来場者数4,285 人、集まったGT-Rは2,000台以上でした。
NISMOフェスティバルではみられない、ショップのチューンドR35 GT-Rのデモカーなども多数展示されていました。

３連休の中日となったイベント当日は好天に恵まれ、イベント広場のメイン会場にはGT-R Magazine 読者を中心としたエントリーユーザーカーが240台以上集まったほか、出展ブースにはショップ／メーカーの最新デモカーが数多く展示されました。ステージ上ではジャンケン大会やGT-R にゆかりのある豪華ゲスト陣によるトークイベントなどを開催。また、レーシングコースではフリー走行のほかデモカーおよびレーシングカーのデモランなど、ファンには堪らない催しが行われました。なお、当日会場内で実施したアンケートの集計結果では、来場者の約８割の方がGT-R を所有されている現役オーナーだったようです。さらに首都圏のみならず、北海道、九州など遠方からの来場も多数見られ、初代のハコスカから現行型のR35 まで会場全体が歴代GT-R一色に染まった１日となりました。

– SUPER GT第5戦レースレポート –

7月25日　スポーツランドSUGO （宮城県）
SUPER GT第5戦の決勝レースが、7月25日（日）にスポーツランドSUGO（宮城県、一周3.704km）で行われ、前回優勝の「カルソニックIMPUL GT-R」（#12 松田次生/ロニー・クインタレッリ）が4位、出走13台中予選11位からスタートした「HIS ADVAN KONDO GT-R」（#24ジョアオ・パオロ・デ・オリベイラ/安田裕信）が5位に入賞。ポールポジションからスタートした「MOTUL AUTECH GT-R」（#23 本山哲/ブノワ・トレルイエ）はスタートから2位以下を大きく引き離し、74周目までレースをリードしたが電気系トラブルが発生し6位フィニッシュとなった。

公式予選からGT500クラスをリードし続けたのは、#23 GT-Rだった。トレルイエは、前日の予選スーバーラップで2位に0.4秒もの差をつけてポールポジションを獲得。決勝レース日の朝に行われたフリー走行でもトップタイムをマークしていた。午前中は気温が35度を超えていたものの、その後サーキット上空に雲が広がり、決勝レースのフォーメーション走行が始まった午後2時には32度に下がっていた。

レースがスタートすると、トップを走る#23 GT-Rのトレルイエは、ハイペースで後続を引き離しにかかり、1周目にコントロールラインを通過したときには既に2位に3秒差をつけていた。その後、周回を重ねるたびにその差を広げていき、30秒を超える大きなマージンを作って50周目にピットインし、本山にドライバー交代した。競り合いでコースアウトしたり、バックマーカーと接触するなどアクシデントが少なくないこのコースで、#23 GT-Rはアクシデントフリーの単独走行を守り、途中パラパラと降り出した雨にも惑わされることもなかった。残り31周を無理せずに安定したラップタイムで走行すれば、優勝の確率は高いと思われた。しかし、レースが90％を消化した後の74周目に、突然本山がドライブする#23 GT-Rはコース上にストップ。再始動するまでにタイムをロスしてしまう。本山によると、「エンジンのメイン電源が突然落ちた。しばらくしてからスイッチを入れ直すと電源が入り、再スタートした」とのこと。チームは原因究明を進めている。

前回優勝のためGT-R勢では最大のハンディウェイト（66kg）を積む#12 GT-Rは、6番グリッドから松田がレースをスタート。序盤に他車のアクシデントのため4位に上がり、その後3位、2位へとポジションを上げた。45周目にピットインし、クインタレッリに交代したあとは、5位でレースに復帰。終盤には#23 GT-Rのトラブルによって4位にあがり、そのままフィニッシュした。ドライバーズランキングは3位にあがり、チャンピオン獲得に向けて手応えを感じた星野一義監督は、ドライバー達の手を握りしめねぎらいの言葉をかけていた。

「HIS ADVAN KONDO GT-R」（#24 ジョアオ・パオロ・デ・オリベイラ/安田裕信）は、予選順位は11位だったがレース中のマシンは快調で、オープニングラップに2台をパス。その後3周目には7位に浮上。スタートドライバーのオリベイラは、一時後続に抜かれる場面もあったが、レース折り返し時点には5位を走行していた。6位でレースに戻った後半担当の安田もミスのない確実なドライビングで周回。最終的には5位にポジションをあげてゴールした。

■#12 GT-Rドライバー、松田次生のコメント
「4位の結果には少し悔しさは残るけど、チャンピオンシップを考えれば良かったと思います。ロニーも良い仕事をしてくれました。シリーズ後半戦は、チャンピオン目指してがんばりたいと思います。まずは、次の鈴鹿700kmでポイントをたくさん取りたいですね。」

「重いクルマで4位入賞できたし、ランキング3位に上がれたのでハッピーです。鈴鹿ではふたり力をあわせてポイントを取り、残り2レースで勝負をかけたいです。昨日も今日も暑い中、たくさんのファンの皆さんに応援していただき、ありがとうございました。次の鈴鹿も是非パワーを送ってください」

FIA GT1 世界選手権第2戦シルバーストンの予備予選が行われました。
プラクティスセッション同様、改装されたシルバーストンマセラティでMC12が最速です。この日の午前、ヴィタフォンレーシングチーム・マセラティのエンリケ・バーノルディがフリープラクティスセッションでファステストタイムを記録しましたが、午後に行われた予備予選ではマテオ・ボビがドライブするトリプルHチームヘガースポーツのマセラティMC12が2:01.135でトップタイムとなりました。2番手は13号車アレックス・マルガリティスでしたので、トリプルHヘガースポーツチームが予備予選では1-2でした。
3番手はピーター・コックスがドライブする24号車ロイター・ランボルギーニ・ムルシエラゴ670 R-SVでした。
GT-R勢は、23号車のクルム／ダンブレック組が7番手で最上位につけています。

週末のSUPER GT第1戦ではGT-Rが優勝を飾ったことはお知らせしたとおりですが、ホンダのニューカーHSV-10が不発に終わりました。10ラップ目にターン1でホンダの3台の真新しいレースカーはすべて姿を消すことになったのです。

幸運なことにドライバーは無事でした。

他にもドラマがありました。それは下のレースのハイライトビデオでご覧いただけます。GT300クラスの4台のクラッシュシーン、ポールシッターだったWeider HSV-10がポジションを落とすシーンなども含まれています。その数ラップ後には、優勝を飾るHIS ADVAN GT-Rがコーナーをオーバーランするシーンも。

これらの出来事はすべて 2周目 に起こりました。

Some interesting changes we expected to see in the official press release didn’t seem to make it all the way to the English version. At this time we’re not sure as to why they weren’t translated outside of Japan and we hope to know more soon.

So far we’ve also collected the following details on items that could be in, or optional on, the 2010 GT-R but are not in the English press statement.

Upgraded Water Lines to Enhance Transmission Cooling

The engine coolant in the GT-R is used to enhance the rear mounted GR6 cooling. In 2010 JDM model, the water lines are upgraded to carry more coolant to the rear to lower the transmission temps overall.

Optional Nismo Multifunction Display Data Logging Kit

The GT-R’s Multi Function Display (MFD) is a big highlight of the GT-R’s interior giving drivers access to nearly every piece of data made available via the network of sensors throughout the car. The Nismo data log kit upgrade will give the users the ability to record this data to a USB pendrive for analysis later. Image above is a photoshop btw…

Optional Nismo Rear Diff Cooler

The Nismo Rear Diff Cooler is also rumoured be available as an option starting next year. This was first seen on the Tokachi 24hrs Nissan R35 GT-R developed by Nismo as a test platform for many of the Nissan GT-R SpecV parts.

What else did we miss out on? Well it appears the update front bumper we saw in spy shots is a no go, at least for the base model GT-R. The rear skirt ducts also seemed to go missing although we speculate that these will only be fitted to cars featuring the Nismo differential cooler?

More as it is dug up, confirmed or ruled out by Nissan…

Officially announced today is the 2010 specification Nissan GT-R for the Japanese market. We’d heard the rumours of some of the updates to feature in this iteration of Godzilla but today all is confirmed and more. Keep in mind that these changes may well trickle down to MY2011 specification Nissan GT-Rs in other regions but none of that is confirmed yet.

Suspension is retuned to enhance ride comfort while still providing direct feedback from the road surface. The front shock absorbers are improved as well as an increase in the stiffness of the front springs. Rear radius rod bushings have also been strengthened.

The SpecV‘s rear diffuser is indeed available now on all models standard which improves cooling in the rear floor area. Something many GT-R owners noticed in previous model years.

New style, higher flowing, catalytic converters are adopted to improve low and mid range engine response.

On the inside, the Japanese CARWINGS system is enhanced and the audio system now features a USB port with iPod connectivity capability.

The MY2010 SpecV also receives some updates, the rear shock settings are tweaked which should improve ride and handling. SpecV’s are also now delivered with Dunlop tires standard instead of the Bridgestones. Bridgestones are now optional.

It really seems like TAS2009 has just been but time flies and dates are now already announced for next years event. In case you don’t know or have never heard of it, Tokyo Auto Salon is Japan’s largest annual tuner auto show. Spread out over the many halls of the Makuhari Messe each year is everything you could possibly want Japanese car tuning related. From the subtle to the sublime from drift cars to VIP it’s all here and it’s growing in size.

This year you should most certainly plan your trip in advance and be in Tokyo from the 15th – 17th of January 2010.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 was huge, 388 companies exhibited 626 cars over 3,117 booths over god knows how many kilometers of hall aisles. This eclipses TAS2008 in size even without some of the bigger name tuners like HKS in attendance!

In January this year we attended Tokyo Auto Salon with guys from NAGTROC and were well impressed with the cars on show and of course, we’ll be back next year to bring you guys all the news we can from across the ocean.

Sam Mitani, of Road & Track magazine, tests out the Series II Nissan GT-R 0-60 acceleration performance at Nissan’s Tochigi test track. He then sits down and asks the tough questions to Mizuno-san regarding the so called “launch control” function of the GT-R.

Sticking to the letter of the owners manual, Mizuno-san explains that the VDC off mode is and always has been useful only to free the car if stuck in snow or mud and not for launching.

Now that the GT-R has a VDC on “launch control” mode available to current and owners it pretty much takes all the controversy away but stil… Thanks Sam for asking these questions we all wanted to hear answered officially.
