<p><a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> continue to come up with some new ideas in the R35 GT-R parts business, especially this week in the intake air cooling arena where suprisingly few companies have succesfully ventured so far. Perhaps the standard cooling solution is difficult to improve upon? Either way the HKS Intercooler Kit for the Nissan GT-R is a shift in the right direction I feel. </p>
<p>What <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> has done is ditched the standard intake air guide/ducting system and replaced it with their own carbon version. This allows them to choose a longer core (400&#215;260) and gain important surface area in doing so. Available surface area in an intercooler can mean more efficient cooling but in this case HKS went with a thinner core (65mm) to do so. What you usually end up with when doing this is an increase in pressure drop across the intercooler but, this is something that HKS have thought of in advance and they&#8217;ve tried to design this away with a new inner fin design. The thin core design also helps in lessening the effect of blocking airflow to the radiator.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> Intercoolers offer all this and at a lower weight as well losing 1.6kg over the standard items. There&#8217;s no pricing as yet but we&#8217;ll let you know when we find out around January 2010.</p>

<p>Two new LSDs for the Nissan GT-R in three total configurations have been released by tuning house <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS Kansai</a> recently. The <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/11/19/hks-kansai-front-lsd-upgrades-for-nissan-gt-r/">HKS Kansai front LSD</a> Spec 1 and the Spec 2 are available to meet different applications of the Nissan GT-R and are both 1 way limited slip differentials. With a 1 way front LSD, effects are only felt under acceleration and the aim is to improve handling when in and exiting corners under acceleration. It also improves grip when accelerating in a straight line.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/11/19/hks-kansai-front-lsd-upgrades-for-nissan-gt-r/">HKS Kansai Front LSD Spec-1</a> is a street and light circuit oriented diff. It comes in two types depending on how agressive you want it. The specifications are as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Cam angle (accelerating/coasting):</strong> 35Â°/0Â° or 45Â°/0Â°</li>
<li><strong>Initial Torque:</strong> 5-6 kgf</li>
<li><strong>Friction Plates:</strong> 8 per side, 16 total</li>
</ul>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/11/19/hks-kansai-front-lsd-upgrades-for-nissan-gt-r/">HKS Kansai Front LSD Spec-2</a> is a competition oriented differential and comes only in one type. It also excels at getting you maximum traction off the line in high powered drag GT-Rs. The specifications are:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Cam angle (accelerating/coasting):</strong> 55Â°/0Â°</li>
<li><strong>Initial Torque:</strong> 10-12 kgf</li>
<li><strong>Friction Plates:</strong> 8 per side, 16 total</li>
</ul>

Quite well it would seem. With <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/06/14/hks-gt600-racing-and-sports-kits/">the HKS GT600 kit</a> installed, <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/06/04/nissan-gt-r-specv-turbos-vs-standard-turbos/">the SpecV&#8217;s larger turbos</a> are much happier with high boost than the standard GT-R&#8217;s.</p>
<p>This goes doubly so when <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS TF</a> take <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/06/04/nissan-gt-r-specv-turbos-vs-standard-turbos/">the SpecV turbos</a> and tweak them for further gains. <p>Here&#8217;s something creative for those after a little something more for their track GT-R without going to the extravagance of a full blown picnic bench GT wing. <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> TF have devised a pair of handy spoiler risers that lift the rear wing up that extra couple of inches. This allows you to get that extra downforce while utilising practically all your factory hardware and retain the center brake light.</p>
<p>Supplied in the kit are the two risers and a center pillar manufactured in FRP. Cost is 72,450 yen in Japan but you&#8217;ll likely need to have them painted to suit.</p>

<p>We got our first hint about <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/06/15/hks-release-more-intake-and-exhaust-goodness/">the HKS Superior Spec-R full titanium exhaust back in mid-June</a> but had very little in the way of pricing or availability dates. Thats all changed now as <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> USA have made a press release statement regarding exactly that. </p>
<p>Just ten of these exquisite exhausts will be made available worldwide and at least a few of them are available now from your local vendors in the US. Lifting it&#8217;s design premise from the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/08/27/hks-legamax-premium-exhaust-r35-gt-r/">stainless HKS Legamax exhaust</a>, this one is crafted in full titanium to result in a 10kg weight loss over the standard item.</p>
<p>Such a premium exhaust, of course, comes with a top shelf price tag, which is set at around the $5030 mark. You&#8217;re sure to maintain your exclusivity with this.</p>

<p>Some of you who&#8217;ve spent some time getting to know the GT-R at your local race tracks may have noticed that the brakes tend to get hot. It&#8217;s not rocket science really, a big heavy car like the GT-R expects a lot from it&#8217;s brakes even if they are mammoth in size.</p>
<p>Nissan&#8217;s solution to brake heat issues was to throw a whole heap of money at carbon ceramic rotors and a pair of tiny air ducts in the front lip spoiler for the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/gtrnews/vspec/">SpecV</a>. <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS</a> <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/tag/kansai/">Kansai</a> on the other hand have come up with a product a little more subtle and available. Simple air guides that bolt to your lower control arms and direct air towards the calipers.</p>
<p>Could it be this easy? Well real world results are not abundant at this stage so we&#8217;ll have to wait and see. These sell for about 39,900 yen in Japan.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/08/12/hks-gt570-kit-for-r35-gt-r/">HKS&#8217;s GT570 Racing kit</a> has been a huge hit with GT-R owners both in Japan and <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/01/03/the-rise-and-fall-and-rise-again-of-the-1/">overseas</a>. HKS have extended the kit before to suit street cars by producting <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/02/19/hks-release-street-legal-gt570-sports-pa/">the GT570 Sports package</a> which shipped with high-flow catalytic converters to keep emissions in check. Now they&#8217;ve gone another step further and produced a second pair of packages known as the <strong>GT600 Racing</strong> and <strong>GT600 Sports</strong> kits.</p>
<p>The GT600 package evolves the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/wp-admin/edit.php?tag=gt570">existing GT570 kit</a> and in fact ships with all the same equipment plus a few extras. Those include the HKS Premium Suction kit &#8211; large diameter OE intake piping replacements &#8211; a fuel regulator and a fuel pump. The GT600 kit also ships with <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/12/11/hks-superior-finisher-rear-grille/">the HKS Superior Finisher</a> fitted with an exclusive GT600 badge. <p>The pricing for each kit has also been released, for the GT600 Racing package you get three options. The GT600 Racing base package is 882,000 yen. For the less obnoxious &#8220;Silencer Version&#8221; fitted with an additional muffler in the exhaust you will pay 903,000 yen. Finally for the LEGAMAX Premium exhaust version you&#8217;re looking at 1,155,000 yen all up. </p>
<p>If being street legal is your thing, then you&#8217;ll opt for the GT600 Sports package at 1,197,000 yen for the base package for 1,470,000 yen including the LEGAMAX Premium exhaust.</p>
<p>The GT570 Racing package base price is 598,500 yen so you&#8217;re looking at ponying up just under 300,000 yen more for the GT600 Racing kit that most buyers will go for.</p>

<p>Well it&#8217;s not pretty but it seems to get the job done. HKS hit Fuji Speedway this week with a new GT Wing firmly bolted on the back of their Nissan GT-R. The aim of the outing was to set a time attack laptime for the upcoming Video Option DVD to be released late next month, the 26th of April. </p>
<p>HKS also had their time attack Evo X out up against the GT-R with race driver <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuteru_Taniguchi">Nobuteru &#8220;Nob&#8221; Taniguchi</a> behind the steering wheel.</p>
<p>The GT Wing is not the only change to the GT-R however, the HKS R35 is fitted up with <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2009/02/19/hks-release-street-legal-gt570-sports-pa/">the street legal HKS GT570 Sports Package</a> which is a high-flow catalytic converter fitted version of their widely renowned but de-catted <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/08/12/hks-gt570-kit-for-r35-gt-r">HKS GT570 Racing Package</a>.</p>
<p>Even with the cats in this car is quick though, they managed a 1:48.94, a time they expect to better before too long. Nice&#8230;</p>

<p>For those of us not willing to take the risk of failing an emissions test the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/08/12/hks-gt570-kit-for-r35-gt-r">HKS GT570 Racing Package</a> presents a problem. It ships with decat exhaust components mainly and depending on your local regulations this may not technically be legal.</p>
<p>To suit on-road street legal applications with almost identical performance, HKS have now released the <em>HKS GT570 <strong>Sports</strong> Package</em> which includes pretty much what you&#8217;d expect to see on a street legal version of the <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/08/12/hks-gt570-kit-for-r35-gt-r">HKS GT570 Racing Package</a> kit. That is:</p>

<p>Suitable for both series I (12/2007 to 12/2008) and <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/2008/12/09/nissan-s-series-ii-gt-r-information-offi">series II (01/2009 onwards) GT-Rs</a> the kit is priced around the 913,500 yen mark in Japan. </p>
<p>This is somewhat of an increase over the 598,500 yen retail price of the GT570 Racing Package. The price of staying legal&#8230;</p>

<p>There&#8217;s no hiding the fact that the GT-R does tend to understeer on the track at the limit. Carry too much speed into a corner and the heavy front end will push, the body will roll and the tires will screech and the car will exhibit classic understeer.</p>
<p>While some choose to dial this out using wider front tires, full suspension replacements and so forth anti-sway bars are also a good choice to help combat it.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS Kansai</a> have released just such an upgrade to some stiffer anti-sway bars recently for both the front and the rear of the Nissan R35 GT-R in an inexpensive set.</p>
<p>The front stabiliser bar offers 115% the stiffness of the standard OEM stabiliser using a 35mm diameter bar. The rear stabiliser is adjustable and offers two settings &#8211; Soft @ 167% stiffness and Hard @ 200% the stiffness of the OEM rear stabiliser.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS Kansai</a> have given our friends at <a href="http://www.gtr-world.net/">GTR-World</a> a sneak peak at their <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/motorshows/tasnews/">Tokyo AutoSalon</a> prepped Nissan GT-R. Bearing quite a few new parts, this <a href="http://www.gtrblog.jp/category/tunernews/hksnews/">HKS Kansai</a> GT-R recently clocked the highest speed in the top speed battle as seen on the latest issue of Video Option (Issue 178, Feb 2009). They managed a top speed of over 326km/h with around 600ps of power.</p>
<p>The HKS Kansai GT-R is now repleat with dry carbon products from SEIBON and will be on display from Friday at Tokyo AutoSalon.</p>
