The guys over on NAGTROC have a pretty interesting discussion going regarding custom tuning of the staple GT-R ECU upgrade, the Cobb AccessPORT. The guys have figured out how to write maps that control boost pressure based on RPM.

While this doesn’t sound like much when described like that (and there’s probably more to it), its actually quite a big deal. What it allows the average GT-R owner to do is to get more tuning value from their Cobb AccessPORT before resorting to electronic boost controllers and aftermarket wastegate actuators to keep the GT-Rs small turbos from boost spiking, especially on gear change.

The guys at GTC Racing have used the latest code and maps on their GTR to run 10.8 @ 125.92 mph at Santa Pod drag strip in the UK. This car is fitted with neither a boost controller or a set of actuators. It’s also running street tires but is fitted with a full turbo back exhaust and Forge Motorsports upgraded intercooler.

Inspired by the 2010 FIA GT1 specification Nismo developed Nissan GT-R this full carbon fibre hood by GTC Racing is getting closer and closer to production.

The aggressive appearance of the hood is equaled by the quality of construction and attention to detail. For example, the factory hood intakes are remodeled in carbon fibre and retain their factory turbine cooling function. Even the underside of the hood is finished to the premium standard you’d expect for a part going on your GT-R.

Functionality is there too, the GTC GT1 Carbon Hood weighs in at just 4.8 kg – a 7.2 kg weight saving over the standard 12kg OE item. Not to mention the engine bay cooling benefits of the copious air vents.

As for the price, it’s not finalized exactly yet, but expect to pay around the £2,500 mark when ready.

Up next for GTC are other carbon parts you might be able to peep in the photo gallery below.

Suffer no more Euro GT-R owners, the Cobb AccessPORT is now available for your Nissan GT-R! Thanks to the hard work and forsight by GTC-Racing based in the UK, who spent hours road and dyno testing, the AccessPORT can now be yours and features, as expected, two stages of power upgrades just as the overseas models do.

The net performance gain for each AP stage is:

Stage 1, 97 RON Fuel:

+63 hp and +70 lbft of torque

Stage 2, 97 RON Fuel:

+70 hp and +90 lbft of torque

So the Euro spec Cobb AccessPORT features not just those two maps but also the following purpose built maps:

Anti Theft (security mode, car will not start)

Valet Mode (reduces rev limit and power level, so car cannot be driven aggressively by others)

Stock Style (normal tune with only speed limiter removed)

Economy (maximum fuel economy mode, sacrificing performance for better fuel economy)

There are also tonnes of other extremely useful functions like:

Re-flashes ECU through factory Data Port (OBD)

Ability to uninstall and revert back to original (stock) ECU data

Ability to store multiple maps on unit, allows switching between maps at user’s convenience

Ability to read DTCs (trouble codes) from the ECU, BCM, Multi-AV, IPDM, Pre-crash Seat Belt, Meter/M&A, and Adaptive HL computers

Ability to clear DTCs (trouble codes) from all vehicle computers including infamous “Bonnet Light”

Ability to update reflash maps as improvements become available

Good friends of ours at GTC are assisting the testing phase for the European spec Nissan GT-R Cobb AccessPORT as of right now. Their brand new Euro GT-R has the prototype maps installed and is undergoing road and dyno testing this week. We’ve been told to expect it any moment for delivery into the eagerly awaiting hands of the European GT-R owners.

Good news for those who feel the GT-R could be just that smidge better … or even those who feel it could do with a whole lot more actually …

While you’re here you may as well check out some pics of the GTC-R development car below, nice stickers!

GTC-R has been working on a new range of parts for the Nissan supercar R35 GT-R for a while now and today we can announce the first in the lineup in the form of this full titanium exhaust. The exhaust features three replacement sections, a titanium Y-pipe, titanium center and full titanium rear muffler setup.

The lightweight, resonated Y-pipe weighs just 4 kg, a significant saving over the OE item. It also provides a huge increase in exhaust flow by utilizing larger diameter piping (76mm x 2 into 89mm x1) and deleting the two secondary catalytic converters. Exhaust flow and performance aren’t the only benefits here, the GT-R’s exhaust note gets that well deserved improvement that many GT-R owners are looking for.

The GTC Titan Y-pipe is available for £900 GBP (plus VAT).

The GTC Titan rear muffler section is fed by a straight through 90mm center pipe with no resonators. This simple look keeps weight down and adds bulk to the GT-R engine’s vocals. This is one exhaust that manages to keep the noise level acceptable around town but give you the supercar, F1 scream at WOT. Again, GTC-R have lightened these rear exhaust components. Saving 10kg over the OE items (6.6kg GTC Titan vs. 17.45kg OEM) fitting this exhaust provides performance improvements all round. The rear section splits the 90mm pipe into 2x 76mm pipes feeding a symmetric muffler design leading finally to four large circular tips with burnt titanium highlights.

The GTC Titan Exhaust sells for £2,200 GBP (plus VAT)

These exhaust components are custom, hand made to order and expect to spend about 6 – 8 weeks in anticipation once you’ve ordered. Hit up GTC-R for more information at the links below.

It’s early Christmas for UK GT-R enthusiasts as their long awaited delivery date arrives. Good friend of ours, Ben Linney from GTC / GTR23.com has picked up his official UK spec Nissan GT-R after what seemed like an endless wait. Of course Ben had it a lot easier than some having a Japanese import GT-R to play with in the mean time.

Ben tells us that this upgrade to this Series II official UK spec GT-R is the first step to an upcoming launch of an entire new range of original performance parts from GTC / GTR23.com. We’ll be sure to keep you guys in the loop as more news comes to hand on that front.

Thanks for the pics Ben!

One of the most widely respected Japanese hardcore engine development workshops is lead by charismatic Junichi Tanaka-san. Based in Tokyo they’ve built some serious gear for customers interested in the top end of the horsepower range and they already have no shortage of customers who want the magic 1000hp from the VR38DETT. The name of the company, of course, is JUN Auto.

Recently he’s unveiled the plans they’ve made so far on getting there from here, 485ps to 1000hp and they’re exciting.

Starting in April and May JUN will focus considerable effort on the internals of the Nissan R35 GT-R’s enigmatic VR38DETT. Top of their list are:

Billet Crankshafts

Billet Connecting Rods

Billet Pistons

Billet Camshafts

Should be some interesting times and I’m hoping we’ll see a JUN Super Lemon R35 in in the not too distant future. Check out after the jump to see a test drive of JUN’s 1000hp R33 GT-R.

There’s no hiding the fact that the GT-R does tend to understeer on the track at the limit. Carry too much speed into a corner and the heavy front end will push, the body will roll and the tires will screech and the car will exhibit classic understeer.

While some choose to dial this out using wider front tires, full suspension replacements and so forth anti-sway bars are also a good choice to help combat it.

HKS Kansai have released just such an upgrade to some stiffer anti-sway bars recently for both the front and the rear of the Nissan R35 GT-R in an inexpensive set.

The front stabiliser bar offers 115% the stiffness of the standard OEM stabiliser using a 35mm diameter bar. The rear stabiliser is adjustable and offers two settings – Soft @ 167% stiffness and Hard @ 200% the stiffness of the OEM rear stabiliser.

Available now from 85,000 yen at GTR23.com and other HKS Kansai resellers.

Just had one of the best experiences of my life. Driving my R35 round the Race of champions track inside Wembley stadium ! Wembley is usually where the English football team plays football on a grass pitch in front of 90,000 people. But this year it has been turned into a race track where the best drivers from F1, Rally, etc, will battle it out to see who is the best driver on the planet on a level playing field.

Anyway, when i got a phone call asking if I wanted to join in the fun with my R35 against some modified cars including an all carbon Viper, I was well on it !

GTR23.com customer & A1GP driver Fairuz Fauzy in his 600bhp modified Ultimate Silver R35 GT-R and myself in White GT-R 600bhp headed down. Very tight track, but great fun !!!! Fauzy got the fastest time of the day, beating the Viper. Times and details little hush as it was all covered by a magazine who wants exclusivety.

Photos after the jump!

UK based Dymag have shipped the first set of GT-R bound Dymag carbon/magnesium ultra lightweight wheels by way of our friends at GTC-R to send off to a customer in Dubai. Dymag have perfected the manufacture of the carbon composite / magnesium wheels to come up with a design that is lighter and stronger than standard wheels.

Reducing unsprung weight has huge advantages, to have the same effect as removing just 8 kilograms of unsprung mass in the wheels you would need to remove 48 kilograms from the body. You get better acceleration, braking, fuel efficiency, lighter and sharper steering and more.

Here we see them fitted to Saeed from Dubai’s GT-R. This GT-R also features plenty of other modifications supplied by GTR23.com like:

HKS GT570 KIT

ARC Intercoolers

Power House Amuse Turbo Outlet Pipes

Power House Amuse STTI RS Exhaust

Power House Amuse Rear Wing

AutoSelect Front Spoiler

AutoSelect Front Canards

COBB Tuning AccessPORT

COBB Tuning Coilover Sleeve Kit

Thanks a lot to Ben from GTR23.com for sending these in.

ARC has announced that this month they will not only release their twin intercooler replacements for the OEM intercoolers but that they will also finally release their two types of titanium exhausts for R35 GT-R. We now have pricing for each of these parts as well as part numbers.

First up the ARC intercoolers, shown above, will retail at 398,000 yen. Part number is M079R35G. Release date is September 2008.

Next is the ARC Titanium Exhaust Type-G. This is aimed at those looking for a less obnoxious exhaust. Weighing in a 10.4kg it’s lighter than stock while maintaining great flow and a relatively low noise output. The ARC exhausts all have the single opening elliptical tips. Some may not like these. Price is 448,000 yen and part number is TSR35-G.

Lastly is the ARC Titanium Exhaust Type-S. This is a louder more circuit spec exhaust with a lighter weight (6.8kg) and louder noise. The price is also cheaper due to less materials used at 315,000 yen. Part number is TSR35-S.

These parts were developed in conjunction with MCR and will be available soon from GT-R parts dealers such as GTR23.com.

Opening up at a URL synonymous with success for many Nissans and GT-Rs throughout the years, GTR23.com, the website is ready to serve European owners and others worldwide. GTC has already been serving customer after customer as far away as Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia and now it’s even easier to deal with them.

Ben has had the privilege to be the first owner of a Nissan R35 GT-R in the UK and as such has already been featured on GTRBlog many times as well as in other media such as Fifth Gear, and Car Magazine. Since then Ben has modified his GT-R significantly choosing the best Japan and the US’s tuning houses have to offer.

Well if you were paying attention back in April you would remember when Ben Linney had his personally imported Nissan JDM spec GT-R out playing with an SLR out at the Top Gear test track. He wasn’t saying too much back then but now that the Top Gear episode has aired he’s let the cat out of the bag.

An ex-Stig and Chief Test Driver for Mclaren, Chris Goodwin, set a conservative lap time of 1:20 saying “she easily had a 1.19 in her but didn’t want to push someone’s personal car when it wasn’t necessary”, that is not being filmed. Something the Stig – the current Stig – backed up himself when he set a 1:19.7 lap time at the very same track on Top Gear which aired on Sunday night.

In other news with Ben’s car, he’s now making even more power after some tweaking of the ECU using the COBB Tuning AccessPORT beta version he’s been testing out. From a standard 473 bhp he’s making an estimated 565 hp with an exhaust, ECU tune and a little more boost. Obviously he’s keen to have another bash at the Top Gear test track and we’d love to see that.

Ben Linney has been busy collecting parts for his Nissan GT-R over the recent months and has gone and fitted them up and run it on the dyno recently out at Perfect Touch. The results are good making 452.8 hp at all four wheels at 6,187 rpm. So far GTC are using a Sunline Racing GTspec TiTANIUM SR exhaust and a straight through front pipe. This setup deletes two of the four catalytic converters and improves flow as well as giving the car a great exhaust note.

Ben has also used a Cobb Tunning AccessPORT (beta version) to delimit the standard ECU. Tires have been replaced with Cooper Tires Zeon 2XS which are lighter than the standard Bridgestones by a considerable margin.

Next up GTC are looking to fit Power House Amuse R1000-No.1 Turbine Outlets to delete the remaining two catalytic converters.

Midori with the assistance of Michael Krumm (Nismo #22 Motul Autech GT500 GT-R driver) have been developing parts for the Nissan R35 GT-R for release shortly. On the cards is a suspension kit using Aragosta dampers as well as another kit using Force dampers sourced from the UK. The Force kit is a 3-way adjustable (bound, rebound and height) coilover kit and has been tested good for a 1’54″ lap around Fuji SpeedWay (driver Yasushi Kikuti) on a fairly bad day weather wise.

Midori also have an ECU modification planned including raising the rev limit, removing the speed limiter and increasing boost. Fuel and ignition maps are also modified to increase response. Interesting that Midori also note that their ECU modification will remote any dash warning lights such as the tire or bonnet warning lights as some GT-R owners (especially overseas) have had trouble with. They’re asking 135,000 yen for the ECU upgrade or 231,000 yen for a race spec tune on their Dynapack dyno.

To come soon are Alcon brakes, and titanium mufflers.

Ben Linney from GTC has made a post over on the GTR UK Register forums about his day out with his R35 GT-R at the Top Gear test track. He posts that he got a chance to drive the GT-R and the SLR around the full test track and also had someone who is said to have once been “The Stig” drive the track with timing. He is being tight lipped about what time it did however but are there some thinly veiled hints in his post?
