Well we saw these first about a month ago, huge brake upgrades from UK based Alcon had made their way to a few early customers in Asia. The brakes are now officially available to all in Europe and the US.
July 27, 2009 – Alcon Components LTD, a world-wide leader in high performance braking systems and technology, has confirmed that SpeedForSale.com will be the exclusive North American distributor of their Nissan GT-R Brake SuperKits & OEM Lightweight Rotor Upgrades.
The official press release then goes on to give a few of the details of these mammoth brake kits, the largest currently available for the GT-R.
The GT-R SuperKit has the largest brake caliper, rotor, and pad upgrade available for the GT-R, with the front rotors having a massive 15.75†x 1.42†(400mm x 36mm) size, and the rear rotors coming in at 15.16†x 1.30†(385mm x 33mm.) The kit’s 2-piece floating rotors also include Alcon’s unique bobbin drive system and crescent groove pattern on the face along with 48 internal vanes with turbulators. The mammoth sized ‘Mono-block’ calipers are machined from solid billet and contain 6-pistons in both the front AND rear, along with dust seals, anti-rattle clips, ventilated piston inserts in the front, and utilization of the OEM parking brake in the rear. The brake pads included are Pagid RS9-2 models, with anti-squeal shims and a surface area of 33.6†square inches (217 square centimeters) in the front and 18.7†(121 sq cm) in the rear. High quality Goodridge stainless steel braided brake lines complete the kit. And, best of all, these huge brakes fit inside the OEM 20†wheels and work with the stock brake actuation system!
Pretty much brake porn right there… Pricing on the full SuperKit is $12,990 including everything you need and a choice between Castrol and Motrul brake fluid.
If you’re looking at upgrading brakes but are quite content with the standard Brembo calipers, Alcon are now also producing a lightweight OEM replacement rotor kit. A full set of four, including hats, pre-assembled, ready to fit up will set you back only $3,500 or just $3,000 if you’re one of the first four to order at the link below…

The Type1 Racing exhaust for the Nissan GT-R is due in less than a months time now and what should be final pricing is up online already. We also have a new dyno chart we hadn’t seen before comparing each T1R Exhaust stage from the turbos back.
The T1R 90R Cat back exhaust in stainless will set you back $1,890 USD. It’s manufactured in SUS316 grade stainless and offers a 90mm main pipe split into two 70mm rear pipe sections. It will go on sale in April and should be available for pre-order now.
The T1R Y-Pipe also goes on sale in April this year. It’s made from the same SUS316 grade stainless steel and features a pair of 76.3mm pipes combined into a single 90mm diameter pipe. Two flex joins insure it will not suffer cracking under stress at high temperatures. The price? Just $619 USD.
We’ll have a video of these come April when SpeedForSale get their hands on one installed on their own GT-R.

Megan Racing is working with SpeedForSale on the launch of their new coilover kit for the Nissan GT-R. These fully adjustable coilovers replace the OEM suspension and offer 32 levels of damper adjustment and easy to use height adjustment. Spring rates on these are 12kg at the front and 10kg in the rear.
From all accounts these Megan Racing Street coilovers are a cost effective alternative in terms of replacement full coilover sets. During the pre-order period the cost for the entire set is just $999. Regular price is $1050. Thats a fraction of the cost we’ve seen other kits going for so far.

Rotating mass reduction can benefit driveability of a car greatly. Some ways to lower it are to change to a lighter tire, pickup some lightweight wheels, a lightweight flywheel, or of course lightweight pulleys. AMS has come up with a crank pulley that manages to save almost 4 lbs of weight over the standard item.
Made from billet, aircraft grade aluminium, the AMS Crankshaft Pulley weighs just 2.35 lbs.
That’s great but how does it translate to data we can see and understand? Recently SpeedForSale had their AMS Crank Pulley equipped Nissan GT-R on their dyno to find out. While it’s not an earth shattering power increase it does smooth out power delivery and offer mild gains.
