TAS09: Power House Amuse R35 Phantom Still a Crowd Favourite

2009/01/14

Not much has changed on the Power House Amuse Nissan GT-R in terms of appearance but it’s most likely because they got the formula so perfect first time around. Still a huge crowd drawer at Tokyo Auto Salon 2009, it was good to see how timeless the late Hideki Tanabe-san’s design was and that it most certainly still holds it’s own in the flesh and around a race track against most newcomers.

Featuring the full Power House Amuse Exhaust including the R1-Titan Extra STTi muffler, the R1000-No1 turbine outlets and the R1000-No2 straight RS STTi midpipes. Combined with the Hi-Tech ROM ECU and a HKS EVC5 to control boost and it’s good for 611ps.

Aero is also handled by original Amuse products, the Amuse front under diffuser and the Amuse carbon rear wing offer improved downforce allowing for higher cornering speeds.

Suspension is adjustable via the Power House Amuse R1 Adjusting Kit which allows the standard Bilstein Damptronic dampers to take aftermarket springs and have an adjustable ride height. Spring rates chosen are 20kg/mm front and 12kg/mm rear.

Wheels are standard and fill the guards nicely when lowered like this, tires are also standard but a set of rear 285/35 tires are fitted to the front of the car to assist in getting the understeer under control.

These slight modifications are all it took to get into the low 59′s at Tsukuba Circuit (59.061).

The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of the Fastest Nissan GT-R: Part 1

2009/01/03

samurai-speed-gtr-001

The end of 2008 brings to a close the first chapter in the story of one special Nissan GT-R that we’ve been following since early days here. During the last few months there’s been no other GT-R that could come close to it down the drag strip once it dipped into the mid 10′s consistently.

Play this video

It was somewhat fitting that on the last track event of 2008 it was to again break it’s own record and ultimately break itself when it’s transmission let go doing what it did best, launching hard at the drag strip.

Over 100 launches using the Nissan GT-R’s now infamous launch control, with approximately 30 of those resulting in a sub-10 second ET, took it’s toll. Recorded on video for posterity you can watch what it feels like to strip first gear in a new GT-R.

R35 GT-Ring – Japanese Tuner Magazine: Review

2008/11/16

It’s time for a GT-R related magazine / book (or mook for short) review since I haven’t done one in a while. Today’s subject is the R35 GT-Ring magazine from News Publishing Co of Japan. The mook format is great and gives the book a big glossy magazine feel which ideally suits the content.

The focus of this mook is the Japanese Tuner scene that has sprung up around the Nissan GT-R since and even before it’s launch in December 2007 as well as Nismo’s Tokachi 24hrs entrant.

There’s features on many of the big name tuners our readers will be familiar with such as Mine’s, Zele, Power House Amuse, MCR, Midori Seibi Center, HKS Kansai and Top Secret. There’s also some features on parts manufacturers such as Blitz, Endless and Yokohama.

While much of the text is in Japanese, don’t let this turn you off, the book is filled with some 139 pages of the best photography to come out of the Japanese tuner scene so far and makes the perfect coffee table book.

I give this one 4/5 and put it in the must have category for GT-R owners and fans.

Name: R35 GT-Ring – Japanese Tuner
Publisher: News Publishing Co Ltd
Price: 1,500 yen or about $15 plus shipping
Size: 139 pages
Order From: Hobby リンク Japan (English)

Dymag Carbon Fibre Magnesium Wheels for Nissan GT-R

2008/11/06

UK based Dymag have shipped the first set of GT-R bound Dymag carbon/magnesium ultra lightweight wheels by way of our friends at GTC-R to send off to a customer in Dubai. Dymag have perfected the manufacture of the carbon composite / magnesium wheels to come up with a design that is lighter and stronger than standard wheels.

Reducing unsprung weight has huge advantages, to have the same effect as removing just 8 kilograms of unsprung mass in the wheels you would need to remove 48 kilograms from the body. You get better acceleration, braking, fuel efficiency, lighter and sharper steering and more.

Here we see them fitted to Saeed from Dubai’s GT-R. This GT-R also features plenty of other modifications supplied by GTR23.com like:

  • HKS GT570 KIT
  • ARC Intercoolers
  • Power House Amuse Turbo Outlet Pipes
  • Power House Amuse STTI RS Exhaust
  • Power House Amuse Rear Wing
  • AutoSelect Front Spoiler
  • AutoSelect Front Canards
  • COBB Tuning AccessPORT
  • COBB Tuning Coilover Sleeve Kit

Thanks a lot to Ben from GTR23.com for sending these in.

SEMA 2008: Kunani’s / Budez GT-R @ Falken Tires Booth

2008/11/04

Going from a standard car to a highly modified SEMA showpiece is not an easy task at all but when you personally do it in just thirty days, manage to find time to squeeze in a photo shoot and it ends up looking this good you’re doing-it-right™ in my book.

Darin ‘Kunani’ Ferraro did just that when he took his white 2009 Nissan GT-R and built this beast. With an impressive modifications list he’s managed to make something that stands out from the crowd. You can check it out at the Falken Tire booth (#43027) So what’s it got?

You have to watch the video of that rear wing by the way, it’s insane.

Click the “Read more” link below to continue reading the mods list and see the rest of the photo gallery…

ソース: Thanks to Darin from Budez.com for the photos and information
