AAM Now Stocking Ferrea Valves for Nissan GT-R

2009年12月30日

With all the big horsepower GT-Rs in the works it’s good to know someone is thinking about upgrades in head of these beastly VR38s. AAM have sourced these heavy duty intake and exhaust valves from Ferrea.

On the exhaust side, they’re built from Ferrea’s Nimonic90 Super Alloy which should be able to handle the heat even in the most extreme VR38 builds.

Intake wise, AAM selected the Ferrea Competition Plus Alloy valves as a solid upgrade over the standard items.

If you’re looking at a huge build, it might be something to think about and give Clint a call at AAM

2009年12月29日

Forged Performance have been seeing great results using Arias FP Spec pistons in their VQ motor builds for years now so they decided to spec out and order a set up for a VR38DETT build they’re carrying out for a customer.

These are made from Zero Silicon Aluminum for maximum strength and feature tool steel offset wrist pins, and a pressure seal groove. They’re moly coated for lower friction and are capable of supporting a 1000hp build. The specs are 95.5mm, standard bore and built for a 9.0:1 comp ration.

Forged have these in stock in 95.5m so if these sound like something that might interest you, hit up the guys at Forged Performance to have a chat to see how they can help you…

SuperGT: GT-R’s Biggest Threat in 2010? Honda’s NSX Replacement Spotted

2009年12月28日

SuperGT 2009 is over and with it is the long career of the GT500 Honda NSX that was a staple of the series for so long. In it’s place, Honda have ressurected the cancelled NSX replacement, and sought a rule exemption to do so, for the 2010 season.

The GT500 class HSV-10 GT will debut in the first race of 2010 but was captured here testing at Suzuka circuit in Japan.

It certainly looks like Honda are well into the development on this car and that it’s an attractive beast. Should be an exciting season opener in March 2010 as the GT-R fights off the newcomer!

Videos of the testing at the link below…

Midori Silent High Power NR Titanium Exhaust for Nissan GT-R

2009年12月27日

Well 2010 is about upon us so it’s time to roll out new noise regulations across Japan. The first aftermarket titanium exhaust we’ve seen that’s certified to the new standard is the Midori Silent High Power NR Titanium system proving it’s not all bad news for GT-R owners over there.

The Midori exhaust system is a mid-pipe back system that offers improved exhaust flow efficiency while keeping the loudness in check. In fact at full throttle it’s just 0.6db louder than a standard exhaust. At idle howerver it sounds more grumbly and bassy which at lot of us will appreciate and seek in an aftermarket exhaust.

Due to use of lightweight materials, the muffler section weighs in at just 8.65kg, a saving of 1.2kg over the standard OEM item.

COBB Tuning Launch AccessPORT v2.0 Maps for Nissan GT-R

2009年12月26日

Merry Christmas to all and I hope you’ve all had a great weekend with the family pigging out on tonnes of food and getting stuck into your gifts and gift giving with loved ones.

Cobb Tuning are in the giving mood this festive season as well as they’ve completed the finishing touches on a set of brand spanking new canned tunes for Nissan GT-R AccessPORT owners.

You may have heard by now of the latest breakthrough innovation in tuning the GT-R. A method known as proportional gain boost control which allows more elegant control of the GT-R’s boost. This helps especially at the top end where boost spikes and wastegate creep were turning into big big problems indeed. With these problems resolved, the Cobb AccessPORT has gone on to power some monster GT-Rs with one over 785awhp.

While 787hp may not be everyone’s goal, over the past week we have also seen a “AccessPORT tune only” but otherwise completely standard GT-R break the 10 second barrier (10.953@126.79) at the drag strip. Quite a nice result with the new way of mapping boost control.

These new maps are available for download now from the Cobb Tuning website for all AccessPORT owners. This includes globally delivered models such as the JDM, Australian, East Asian, USDM, and South African GT-Rs! Maps are also broken down into fuel type so you can pick the most appropriate to flash based on available fuel in your area.
