Up Close With the ARC Intercoolers for R35

As we know from early July, MCR have fitted up the latest ARC intercooler product for the R35 GT-R. Developed in partnership with MCR the ARC intercoolers offer improved cooling performance, improved flow characteristics all in a lighter weight package. ARC benefit from years and years of experience making top shelf quality cooling products for Japanese cars and they continue to maintain their reputation today.

    So what makes them lighter but able to cool more efficiently? Different materials being used?

    I should have written more on that. The core is of a more efficient design with larger, more optimised tubes.

    The lightness, ordinarily comes from using cast aluminium end tanks. Many intercooler manufacturers use heavier cast alloy end tanks.

    In the GT-R these are already cast aluminium from the factory so the weight saving is quite negligible here and comes from shaving off bits here and there and welding the core to the end tanks as opposed to pressing them together.
