GTC’s GT-R Top Gear Test Track Laptime, GTC Update
Well if you were paying attention back in April you would remember when Ben Linney had his personally imported Nissan JDM spec GT-R out playing with an SLR out at the Top Gear test track. He wasn’t saying too much back then but now that the Top Gear episode has aired he’s let the cat out of the bag.
An ex-Stig and Chief Test Driver for Mclaren, Chris Goodwin, set a conservative lap time of 1:20 saying “she easily had a 1.19 in her but didn’t want to push someone’s personal car when it wasn’t necessary”, that is not being filmed. Something the Stig – the current Stig – backed up himself when he set a 1:19.7 lap time at the very same track on Top Gear which aired on Sunday night.
In other news with Ben’s car, he’s now making even more power after some tweaking of the ECU using the COBB Tuning AccessPORT beta version he’s been testing out. From a standard 473 bhp he’s making an estimated 565 hp with an exhaust, ECU tune and a little more boost. Obviously he’s keen to have another bash at the Top Gear test track and we’d love to see that.
